Minor Ailments

Before booking your appointment please consider whether the local pharmacist would be able to help you. Pharmacists are highly trained professionals and can provide advice and treat certain conditions effectively or help patients decide if they need to see a doctor.  Their advice is free and you do not usually need an appointment to see them.

Here are some examples:

Cough Colds, Sprains, Strains, Sore Throats, Headache, Diarrhoea, Constipation, Athletes Foot, Temperature, Head Lice, Teething, Hay Fever, Blocked Nose, Vaginal Thrush, Indigestion, Allergic Rash, Dry Skin, Insect Bites.

This will save you time instead of waiting for an appointment with the doctor. The doctors do not prescribe antibiotics for simple coughs, colds or viral illness. Please contact your pharmacist.  If the Pharmacist is not able to help you then he will advise you to see your GP.

All details given to the pharmacist are confidential. It is important that if your symptoms persist you seek further advice from your GP and inform them of the medication you have been taking.
