Due to recent GDPR changes, any previous consent given by patients is now invalid, including 3rd party consent and consent to send texts/leave voicemail. Please come into reception and ask for a consent form to sign to renew your consent status.
We have an active group of patients called the “Friends of Silverdale” and we would love to welcome any new members. Please give us a call or ask at our Reception for details !
A wheelchair is now available for patient use. If you have mobility problems and would benefit from using a wheelchair to access the surgery, please ask at reception.
We have a One Problem Per Consultation Policy
We kindly ask that all patients try and stick to our 'One Problem Per Consultation' policy. The main reason for this request is for clinical safety. Doctors cannot see huge numbers of patients with multiple problems and continue to practice safely and effectively. We consider that GP appointments are a limited resource and would kindly ask that such a service be used with care and consideration. We would always encourage patients to book double appointments if there are multiple problems that need discussing.
Help Yourself First
Our Practice is governed by West Leicestershire CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group).
The CCG thinks that the NHS belongs to everybody and that resources need to be used wisely. Therefore all GP's in West Leicestershire are being asked to no longer prescribe medicines on prescription for the short term treatment of minor ailments.
Patients will be asked to purchase them over the counter instead. The NHS also advises that patients should use their Community Pharmacy as their first point of contact Pharmacists are highly trained professionals and they can offer support for a wide range of ailments and conditions saving GP's time for the more urgent problems.
The pharmacist will check the medicine is appropriate for you and your health problem. They will ask questions to ensure there is no reason why you should not use the medicine.
Asking people to self-care in this way, and we know that most people already do, is a fair way of utilising resources wisely as most of these items can be purchased in pharmacies and supermarkets at a low cost, but cost the NHS more to provide on a prescription. It will also free up valuable GP and nurse time, which can be used to deal with more complex or serious health needs.

The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.

Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient participation group exists to make sure that patient needs and what the practice are offering are always heading in the same direction.
